FAQ
Common questions
Can a foreigner own 100% of a company in Perak?
Yes, in most cases. Foreign investors can own 100% of manufacturing companies, and most services companies have no general equity limit. Some regulated sectors set their own limits, so check your activity with us first.
Can foreigners buy property in Perak?
Yes, with consent from the Perak State Authority. Perak sets minimum prices by area (currently about RM1 million in most guides) and excludes low-cost housing, Malay Reserve land and Bumiputera units.
How long does it take to set up a company?
Incorporating a Sdn Bhd with SSM can take a few days once documents are ready. Bank accounts, licences and work passes add several weeks, depending on your sector.
Do I need a local partner?
Not usually. You do need at least one director who ordinarily lives in Malaysia and a licensed company secretary. We can help arrange both.
Are there tax incentives in Perak?
Yes. Qualifying projects can apply to MIDA for federal incentives such as Pioneer Status or Investment Tax Allowance. Approval depends on the project.
Is investperak.com a government website?
No. investperak.com is run by Alphront Sdn. Bhd., a private company. We are not the Perak State Government or its official investment agency, but we work with government bodies on your behalf.
What does your service cost?
The first consultation is free. After that we quote a fixed fee or a scope-based fee in writing before any work starts.
